Tina Turner once said, “Sometimes you’ve got to let everything go ─ purge yourself. If you are unhappy with anything, get rid of whatever brings you down. Because you’ll find that when you’re free, your true creativity, your true self comes out.” So, dare I ask, “Are you happy? We need to recognize the signs of unhappiness and stop ignoring ourselves.
If you are you anything like me, where you feel like your dreams are right there, close by, but still out of reach for some reason? I still have to ask myself, what’s holding you back from time to time. Sometimes I sit at home, knowing full aware of what I have to do, but I feel numb. I have a head full of ideas and thoughts, but sometimes I am engrossed in some movies on Netflix, feeding my creative mind.
Sometimes all you have to do is allow the day to be a fun but productive day for you. Take a page from Nike and “Just do it.” Whatever you want to do. Allow creativity to enter your train of thought. Take a walk outside, take pictures, go to a movie, but do something and take notice. Open up your ears and listen to conversations. A teacher told my class to sit in the park during my college education, listen to people’s conversations, and write about what they heard. You’ll be amazed at what you come up with and what you assume about people.
I get inspired by my conversations with my friends and family members as we talk about various things. Usually, one of us gives the other advice, and then BOOM! You realize that you can research and write about it.
Allow your savory day off to be your content guide for the week. How many topics can you create from the places, conversations, and things you watched this weekend? This work is not extensive. You take a picture or write down a note on your phone for later. Please note you can do this on your way home from your day job, during your lunch break, on your way to, or from picking up your kids from school.
You have to let life teach you. Be open to new experiences. Do not allow the lack of self-confidence, lack of trust in yourself, and your fear to ride your back and hold you still. You have to start somewhere, and you have to start now. Let’s begin answering this simple question correctly when asked, what do you do? Are you the type of person that answers that question by restating your job title? That is a no, no. You must practice retraining your mind to build confidence, remove the fear, and begin trusting yourself. You are as professional as anyone else. Trust that you will figure things out. Your path to your career might not be the same, but you are just as good as anyone else. So instead of just saying, for example, I am a life coach, why not let people know who you are by repeating your mission and vision statement because it describes what you do. My mission is to motivate and inspire individuals behind the working desk throughout their frustrations and hard times. My vision is to have all our clients comprehend that a well-balanced is essential for their career and their families. It is achievable.
For example, I met many people who want to date, but they work so much that they do not have time to date. They try, but it becomes unsuccessful because their life is all about work, work, work! You have two things you want to accomplish, but you still have not made enough effort to put in quality time. You must find the time to achieve your goals, and you need to find the time to date, especially if you are looking for a companion with whom you would not mind spending the rest of your life. It takes a slight rearrangement of your work schedule, not bringing homework, or doing constant overtime.
Whatever your issue is, there is a solution. First, you must commit to doing the work you need to change your life. Next thing, you must be honest with yourself. Sometimes you think you are ready to take that big step and make that career move, but you have not even looked up the qualifications. Communicate what you seek to change in your life and why with your partner and yourself.
Sometimes, the issues that we face, all the working overtime, can be resolved with a revaluation of your family. Do you have a two-parent income household or one?
We tend to overthink and stay silent with our feelings and emotions when all it takes is a simple conversation. And a different perspective on the situation.
Sometimes, we need to get out of our comfort zone to see our full potential; like Angelina Jolie says, “If you don’t get out of the box you’ve been raised in, you won’t understand how much bigger the world is.”
There is a big world out there; many people can motivate and inspire you by just getting to know them and having a simple conversation. Remember, everyone has a story to tell. They have to find their voice. But to see these stories, you have to find the courage to leave your house! Take chances on yourself, fail, make a mess, and be strong enough to learn the lesson and get back up.
